AAZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV
Every year, on the occasion of Independence Day, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore, conducts an Independence Day program and flag hoisting ceremony. The program also involves a parade by the NCC Army, Navy and Air wings of St Aloysius College. The preparation for the same started on Tuesday, 10th August 2021.
On the first day of practice, we selected a troop of 14 cadets, including commanders and substitutes. The troop consisted of 5 second year cadets and 9 third year cadets. Cdt Anusha J was given charge of conducting practice for the troop. Our first practice session was conducted on Tuesday, 10th August 2021 at 0900hrs. The session started with providing the cadets with a refresher of all the basic commands. The practice for the same went on for 04 days.
On the Independence Day, the program was started at 0900hrs with the prayer which was followed by march fast where Cdt Manish N Bhat of NCC Airwing, commanded the parade. The Chief Guests of the day was Mr Harsha Paul, Asst Professor and HOD of Microbiology and Rev Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ, principal of St Aloysius College. Mr Gavin Pinto who is the president of Student Council welcomed the gathering.
After the gathering National Flag was hoisted which was accompanied by the National Anthem. Then Independence Day message was delivered by the Guest of Honour Mr Harsha Paul. Programme was then continued by the Presidential address from our beloved principal Rev Dr Praveen Martis SJ. This was followed by a medley of patriotic songs by the college choir.
The event was concluded with a vote of thanks given by Ms Aparna Prashanth. The NCC Contingent returned to their initial position and the audience dispersed.
